Wedding Ceremonies

A Hindu wedding is a beautiful and intricate blend of rituals, symbolism, and celebration, reflecting the union of two individuals and their families. Rooted in deep cultural and spiritual traditions, it is considered a sacred bond not just for this life but for seven lifetimes. Each ritual performed in a Hindu wedding has profound meaning and signifies the establishment of love, trust, and commitment between the couple.

WEDDING RITUALS
Kanyadaan: This ritual involves the father of the bride placing her hand in the groom’s hand, signifying the giving away of his daughter. It symbolizes the bride’s parents entrusting their daughter’s well-being and happiness to the groom.
Vara Puja: The groom is welcomed by the bride’s family and honored with offerings, as he is considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu coming to take the bride.
Saptapadi (Seven Sacred Steps): The couple takes seven steps around the holy fire, making seven vows to each other, promising to uphold values like friendship, trust, and mutual respect. Each step is a promise, forming the core of their married life.
Groom & Bride exchange their vows by taking seven steps together to promise:
1. To share their joys and sorrows
2. To nourish each other
3. To obey, respect and value each other as equals
4. To be faithful to one another
5. To be blessed with strong, healthy & happy children
6. To preserve their wealth
7. To be true companions and remain long-life partners
Mangal Sutra and Sindoor: The groom ties the Mangal Sutra (sacred thread) around the bride’s neck and applies sindoor (vermilion) on her forehead, signifying his commitment and the bride’s status as a married woman.
Pani Grahanam (Holding Hands): The groom holds the bride’s hand and vows to walk beside her through all phases of life, sharing happiness, sorrows, and duties.
Agni Puja: The sacred fire, or Agni, is a witness to the marriage. The couple makes offerings to the fire, symbolizing purity and the divine presence in their union.
Ashirvada (Blessings): The ceremony concludes with elders and guests showering blessings for a prosperous and happy married life.
